Early
Treatment.

Why early evaluation matters

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends every child receive their first orthodontic evaluation by age seven. At that age, enough permanent teeth have erupted for an orthodontist to spot — and guide — issues that are often far easier to address early than later: crossbites, severe crowding, and jaw-growth imbalances.

Who it's for

Children ages seven to fourteen whose orthodontic concerns benefit from early intervention. Not every child needs Phase I treatment; many will simply be monitored on a growth schedule until their permanent dentition is established. When early treatment is indicated, it typically runs eight to twelve months and addresses a specific, targeted goal.

What to expect

Your child's first visit at SmileHaus is complimentary. Dr. Thompson performs a clinical exam, reviews any existing dental records, and explains next steps in plain language — whether that's active treatment, a periodic observation schedule, or no intervention at all. You'll leave with a clear plan and, if needed, a written fee quote.

Why SmileHaus

Dr. Karla Thompson takes a conservative, growth-respecting approach to pediatric orthodontics — treating only what needs treating, when it needs treating. Our team is patient, reassuring, and built to make kids comfortable from their first visit through retention.
